Joseph "Joe Joe" Carnegie Jr.

 

Joseph Lewis Carnegie Jr., a United States Army Veteran passionately known to friends and family as “ Joe Joe,” passed away in Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL, following a lingering illness on August 30, 2023. He was born in Williston, Florida, and raised in Petersburg, Virginia. He lived in Virginia for over 40 years. Here he became a proud father to two daughters Jessica Carnegie, and Jackie Carnegie, and Grandfather to Laeyla Rodney-Tyler. 

 

In 1990, Joseph was baptized in Jesus' name and received the Holy Ghost at the United Pentecostal Church (UPC) in Virginia.

 

He passionately served as a hovercraft crew chief driver in the United States Army. Joe Joe was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He worked as a heating and air conditioner tech in Alexandria, VA. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and making crafts and models of all kinds, including hovercrafts. Almost every Saturday morning you could find him on the roller skating rink with his girls. 

 

His parents, Mr. Joseph Carnegie Sr. and Doris B. Carnegie preceded him in death. 

 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Pamela Greenlee Carnegie; and Two daughters Jessica Carnegie of Arlington, Virginia, and Jacqueline Carnegie of Spotsylvania, Virginia. One Granddaughter Laeyla Rodney-Tyler. His step children; Damien Mitchem (Monique), Daniel Mitchem, Kandyce Goggins, and Rubin Williams, and 12 step-grandchildren. His brother Lawrence Carnegie, and two sisters Pamela Carnegie (Anthony) and Natalie Carnegie (Mike). Two aunts Avis Seabrook and Frances Johnson and Godmother Frances Sease aka Granny. As well as a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and greats.
